Southshore University College has taken another significant step toward expanding its postgraduate offerings through the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the African Institute of Public Health (AIPH). The partnership marks the beginning of a strategic collaboration aimed at delivering a high-quality Master of Public Health (MPH) programme while strengthening public health education across Africa.
The signing ceremony formalized a shared commitment between both institutions to jointly recruit students from across the African continent and deliver world-class public health education through a combination of hybrid and in-person learning in Ghana and Nigeria.
Speaking at the event, representatives of both institutions emphasized the importance of collaboration in developing the next generation of public health professionals capable of addressing Africa's evolving healthcare challenges. The partnership leverages the academic strengths and professional expertise of both Southshore University College and the African Institute of Public Health to provide a programme that is practical, research-driven, and internationally relevant.
The Master of Public Health (MPH) programme is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to promote health, prevent disease, and improve health outcomes within communities and populations. As a multidisciplinary programme, it addresses contemporary public health challenges, including infectious and non-communicable diseases, environmental health, health inequities, health systems management, healthcare policy, epidemiology, biostatistics, and health promotion.
Delivered through a hybrid learning model, the programme offers students the flexibility to combine online learning with in-person sessions in both Ghana and Nigeria, making quality postgraduate education more accessible to working professionals across the continent.
The programme spans three trimesters, with tuition fees of GHS 24,000 payable in three instalments. Admissions are open to applicants with at least a Second Class Lower Division in any health-related discipline, as well as graduates from other relevant fields, subject to a selection interview. Applicants with foreign qualifications will have their credentials assessed by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) to determine eligibility for admission.
