Southshore University College marked a significant milestone on Saturday, 27th June 2026, as it held its 10th Graduation Ceremony at the Trinity Theological Seminary, Accra, celebrating the achievements of graduates from its undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive programmes.
Held under the theme, "Character, Courage, and Competence: A Purposeful Path Through the AI Revolution," the ceremony brought together members of the Governing Council, university management, faculty, distinguished guests, parents, alumni, and graduates in a celebration of academic excellence and transformational leadership.
The colourful ceremony was chaired by Prof. Felix Hammond, Chairman of the Governing Council, while the President of Southshore University College, Prof. Nicholas N. N. Nsowah-Nuamah, delivered the President's Report, highlighting the University's continued commitment to producing graduates equipped with the knowledge, values, and competencies needed to thrive in a rapidly changing global environment.
A major highlight of the ceremony was the commencement address delivered by the Guest Speaker, Prof. Bill Buenar Puplampu, former Vice Chancellor of Central University. Addressing the graduating class, he challenged graduates to embrace ethical leadership and position themselves as creators of solutions rather than passive consumers of technology.
Prof. Puplampu emphasized that artificial intelligence has already begun transforming every aspect of society and urged African graduates to take an active role in shaping the continent's future.
He further stressed that Africa's competitiveness in the Fourth Industrial Revolution would depend not only on technological advancement but also on leaders with strong character, courage, and competence, values that align with Southshore University College's institutional philosophy.
The ceremony also featured the conferment of degrees by representatives of the University of Cape Coast, the presentation of Executive Certificates in Business Management to participants of the TALI Graduate School, and the recognition of outstanding graduates for exceptional academic performance.
Addressing the congregation, the President of Southshore University College reaffirmed the University's vision of developing ethical, innovative, and globally competitive graduates capable of leading change across Africa. He encouraged graduates to embrace lifelong learning, remain adaptable in an AI-driven world, and uphold the values that had shaped their academic journey.
An emotional highlight of the ceremony was the valedictory address, which reflected on the graduates' journey of resilience, growth, and achievement while expressing gratitude to faculty, families, and the University community for their unwavering support.
The event concluded with prayers, the formal dissolution of the congregation, and a recession led by the academic procession, bringing to a close a memorable celebration of ten years of academic excellence.
