Governing Council
The supreme governing body of the University, with oversight of strategy, finance and risk.
Purpose
The Governing Council is the supreme decision-making authority of Southshore university College, accountable for the institution's long-term direction, sustainability and public trust.
Key responsibilities
- Approve the University's strategic plan, annual budget and major capital investments.
- Oversee institutional risk, audit, compliance and financial sustainability.
- Appoint and review the performance of the President and senior officers.
- Safeguard the mission, values and academic freedom of the University.
Composition
Independent lay members, ex-officio senior officers, academic representatives, a student representative and government nominees, chaired by an independent Chair.
Meets
Quarterly, with additional extraordinary meetings as required.

The Governing Council is composed of independent lay members, ex-officio senior officers, academic, alumni and student representatives.
Chairman of Council
Prof. Felix Hammond
Chairman of the Governing Council, providing leadership and stewardship of the University's mission, strategy and public accountability.
President
Prof. Nicholas Nsowah-Nuamah
President of the University, accountable to Council for the academic and operational leadership of the institution.
University Counsel
Deborah Nkansah Esq.
University Counsel, providing legal advice and guidance to the Council and the institution.
Registrar / Secretary
Rev. Francis Otoo Eduah
Registrar and Secretary to Council, overseeing institutional administration and governance processes.
Faculty Representative
Mr. Stephen Nana K. Ampadu
Elected Faculty Representative, bringing the voice of faculty into Council deliberations on strategy and standards.
Graduate School Representative
Mrs. Constance Buah
Graduate School Representative, advocating for graduate students and advancing postgraduate education at the University.
Undergraduate School Representative
Mr. Samuel Dadzie
Undergraduate School Representative, ensuring the perspective and welfare of undergraduate students inform Council decisions.
