Master of Public Health

The Master of Public Health (MPH) is a professional degree designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to promote health, prevent disease, and improve health outcomes in populations worldwide. Public health is a multidisciplinary field that addresses a wide range of health challenges, including injuries, infectious and non-communicable diseases, health inequities, environmental health, healthcare policy, and health systems management. The MPH program provides students with a strong foundation in core areas such as epidemiology, biostatistics, health promotion, health systems, and policy analysis to deal with contemporary public health issues as well use diverse approaches in solving Public Health problems

Entry requirements

  • First degree with, a minimum of a Second Class Lower Division in any health-related discipline as well as other diversified fields. Applicants will apply, and attend a selection interview.
  • Applicants from other backgrounds with significant health-sector experience considered
  • English language: IELTS 6.5 (no band below 6.0) or equivalent for international applicants.
  • Personal statement (500–800 words) outlining public-health interests and career goals
  • 2 letters of recommendation
  • All foreign qualifications shall be referred to the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission for determination of equivalences and eligibility for admission.

Graduation requirements

  • Students should have passed all registered taught courses (including both core and elective courses as outlined in the program curriculum), obtained a minimum of 39 credits, and achieved a minimum cumulative weighted average (CGPA) of 2.0 at the end of the programme.
  • Students should have submitted an MPH dissertation of at least 15,000 words.
