Doctor of Business Administration

The Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programme is a terminal degree designed to provide professionals and executives with advanced tools and research skills necessary for strategic planning and decision-making. The DBA curriculum is designed based on thorough observation of the issues in organisations and industry. The programme is intended for candidates with significant professional work experience who have already completed a master’s degree in areas of Business, Management, Commerce, and related disciplines and are seeking to enhance their practical and theoretical knowledge in specific aspects of business administration. The duration of the DBA programme is a minimum of three (3) years and a maximum of five (5) years for full-time candidates. Part-time students may complete the programme in a maximum of seven (7) years.

Entry requirements

  • 1.Candidates with an MBA, MSc or MA in Business Administration, Management, Commerce, Economics or related areas.
  • 2.First degree in business, commerce, or economics with a minimum of five years of management and leadership experience.
  • 3.Master’s degree in a non-business discipline with two years of working experience in industry.
  • 4.Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, ICA that demonstrate foundation knowledge of business and management with five years experience.
  • English language: IELTS 7.0 (no band below 6.5) or equivalent
  • 5.All foreign qualifications shall be referred to the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission for determination of equivalences and eligibility for admission.
  • Statement Of Interest (800–1,000 words)
  • Two professional referee reports and an executive interview

Graduation requirements

  • Participate in at least three (3) seminars and three conferences. Present a thesis with original research (30 credits) and pass the Viva Voce.
  • Submit all necessary forms to file for graduation. Complete all degree requirements within the approved timeline and
  • Students who select their thesis by publication, shall publish at least two (2) papers in refereed journals before graduation
